Veteran golf, as we know it today, took shape in the 1980s and has grown into a vibrant national community supported by the Australian Veteran Golf Association and its State and District bodies.
In Queensland alone, more than eight thousand golfers enjoy the fun, friendship, and healthy competition that Vets golf brings across 23 districts, including our own Wide Bay region.
What makes Veteran golf special is the atmosphere, it’s relaxed, social, and welcoming.
Men and women come together not just to play the game they love, but to share laughs, stay active, and enjoy great company at a very affordable cost.
Here on Bribie Island, the Vets tee off most Monday mornings throughout the year. It’s a fantastic way to start the week, meet new people, and be part of a community that values camaraderie just as much as the golf itself.
Visiting Vets will be charged visitor rates of $25.
To join in on our nominated Bribie Vets Open Days, players simply need to be part of the wider golfing community. Competitors must belong to a registered golf club and be a member of a veterans group that’s affiliated with a recognised State or District body. A current GA handicap is required, and we ask all players to bring proof of both membership and handicap when registering.
Open Days are designed for golfers aged 55 and over who enjoy good company, friendly competition, and a great day out on the course. If that sounds like you, we’d love to see you out there.
Vets competitions are only able to be wo by players who are full members of the Bribie Island Golf Club and the Bribie Vets. Other veterans, visitors and temporary members are welcome to play.
